Install guide

Installing the Android APK

  1. Open this page in a browser and download the APK (not inside WeChat).
  2. Tap the downloaded file to install. The system may warn about an "unknown source" — you'll need to allow install permission for that browser in Settings.
  3. If your phone's security app blocks the install, choose "Install anyway". This is the normal prompt for a sideloaded APK.
  4. After installing, you can check the file is complete with a file manager, or compare it against the SHA-256 value on this page.
Why does the direct download get flagged? Android is cautious about installers that don't come from a store. Once the first release ships we'll have store listings across the major app stores, and installing from a store won't show these warnings.
